National Institute for Student Success Receives National Recognition for Transforming Higher Education
The U.S. Department of Education has awarded Georgia State University’s National Institute for Student Success (NISS) the inaugural Trailblazer Award as part of its Postsecondary Success Recognition Program (PSRP). This honor underscores NISS’s groundbreaking contributions to improving retention, graduation rates, and economic mobility for underserved student populations across the country.
Since its establishment in 2020, NISS has partnered with more than 100 colleges and universities to implement evidence-based practices modeled on Georgia State’s transformative student success strategies. Notably, over a dozen of the PSRP finalist institutions—including one of the winners—are part of the NISS network, demonstrating the institute's far-reaching impact in higher education.
Through its innovative approach, NISS continues to lead efforts that empower institutions to deliver equitable access and meaningful outcomes for students, setting a national standard for student success.
