Changing the paradigm? Creating an adaptive course to improve student engagement and outcomes in introductory political science classes
Adaptive learning (AL) courseware is an alternative tool to non-AL courseware which provides learners with a customized learning experience. The courseware adapts to the individual learner using algorithms. Brown et al. selected a university course in the political science department that had higher than average DFW rates for the implementation of AL courseware. The average DFW rate reduced significantly after the AL courseware was introduced.
