What Does it Take for Nudging to Impact College Students’ Success?
Colleges and universities can improve Freshman enrollment and reduce summer melt by implementing AI-powered chatbots. Georgia State University implemented a chatbot to facilitate communication and support for students as they transition to life at college and on campus. The intention for the chatbot was to target first-generation students who may not have generational knowledge related to the admissions processes. The chatbot nudges students to complete certain enrollment-related tasks. In the years since the chatbot’s integration as a standard communication practice at GSU, summer melt has been reduced by more than 30%.
