As a Program Advisor, Ashton Tomlin supports partner institutions through diagnostic analysis, strategic planning, and the implementation of evidence-based student success initiatives. She works closely with campus leaders to identify barriers to student achievement and develop sustainable solutions that improve retention, progression, and graduation outcomes.
Before joining NISS, Ashton spent nearly a decade working in higher education, admissions, and student success, most recently serving as Senior Assistant Director of Scholar Programs at Georgia Tech. Throughout her career, she has focused on supporting first-generation, limited-income, and underrepresented students through holistic advising, scholarship programs, and access-focused initiatives.
Driven by a belief that talent is universal while opportunity is not, Ashton is passionate about helping institutions create environments where all students can thrive. She has seen firsthand the impact that collaborative, student-centered strategies can have on closing equity gaps and improving student outcomes at scale.
Ashton earned a B.S. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Georgia Southern University. She is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at Georgia Southern University, where her research focuses on advancing student success through evidence-informed institutional practices.
